Education

In 1991, I began homeschooling our first child as “an experiment” when she was three years old. I knew that if it didn’t work out, I could always send her off to public school at a later date. Thirteen years later, I sent that daughter off to college, in fact the Honors College at that particular university, with a homeschool diploma, joy in my heart, and the knowledge that she was well prepared for what lie ahead.

Along the way though, I had three other children, and found that I had come to love education, not just homeschooling. I love seeing my children grow in wisdom, and I love being around them during the day. Sure, I made some mistakes in curricula choices or strategies, but I learned much from those mistakes, too. I found that there are tools that make educating our children easier. There are better ways to educate than just by using a particular program. Passion and joy have to be a part of what happens at school. And that passion should translate into life-long learning, because we all benefit from being adult learners, too.

I’ve written a lot about education, some for the homeschool family and some for the non-homeschool family. Click on the button below to view some of my articles on Ezine Articles where I published over 300 articles related to Educational Tips, Homeschooling, and other topics.
